Reiki
REIKI is pronounced “Ray-Key” and means “universal life force energy”, where Rei stands for “universal” and Ki is the essential life energy (i.e. chi or prana) that permeates all living things. Reiki is a non-invasive healing modality, where practitioners gently lay their hands on a client’s body or slightly above wherever the energy is needed. Practitioners channel this energy, but the Clients’ highest and greatest good directs the outcome. As such, this modality is complementary to other health care and medical treatments and is in no way intended to replace any existing care. Generally, Reiki has the potential to heal blocks, restore energy and in some cases, assist with pain management and discomfort. Clients often report feeling light, relaxed and centred after a session. A typical session may last up to 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the healing needs of Clients.

Sound Healing
Sound healing is a broad and multi-faceted modality. It is an ancient form of healing like hands-on healing. Many instruments like piano, flute, drums, pitch forks and voice can be used to promote healing on all levels. At Hazel Burns Hospice, Poornima uses voice as a medium to channel healing and balancing to Clients. Clients lay down comfortably during this treatment and are invited to participate if they desire, however, they can just enjoy receiving the treatment. Depending on the Clients’ needs, Clients often will have both sound healing and Reiki as part of their sessions.
